I have always been interested in how sound works, in particular digital audio so it seemed to be the choice to be made...
Project Description:
GA Synth
Coupling a background of computer science and music technology, I decided to design and code a virtual synthesiser that uses Genetic Algorithms. The synth is implemented in PD with the GA embedded into a PD external object. The user is able to rate sounds in order to evolve the Genetic Algorithm. The synth uses subtractive synthesis technique with the GA controlling filter parameters.
