Ian Frawley
Biography:
Ian attended the Kilrush Community School, during his time there he played drums in a band called "The Oryx". Along with the band he bought a portable 8 track digital studio. This started his interest in music technology. He graduated from the University of Limerick with a degree in Information Technology which enabled him to take part in the Masters in Music Technology course. His main interests are playing drums and music recording, engineering and production. During the year he recorded and produced a demo cd for a band from limerick called Emaf and also for a singer songwriter from Kilrush called Aileen Downes.
Project Description:
His project title is "An Investigation In to Improving Audio Processing Software Graphical User Interface Design". This is a Human Computer Interaction based project which investigates how to improve the look, feel, and layout of audio software interfaces. The project will result in a set of guidelines for Audio Processing Software design. These guidelines will be a result of taking HCI guidelines for other types of GUI's and manipulating them to suit Audio Processing Software design. The guidelines will also be a result of user testing of max patches created by Ian where user opinions on soft control such as faders, dials etc will be evaluated for controlling various sonic features such as volume, panning, reverb etc.
