i-Space:
An exploration of the ‘horizontal' Art-space.
This project addresses two key concepts in the art-criticism of Hal Foster, the horizontal and the vertical. Foster developed the ‘horizontal' and the ‘vertical' in order to account for the recent changes in media technology. While the later is based on the static art-object, the former is based on the interactive-moving image. This project will seek to address the experimental effects of both concepts, when working technologically in unison.
This project seeks to examine the rise of Interactive Art, the technologies it uses and its impact on art. It seeks to deal with ideas of space and functionality as well as issues relating to gallery space and the impact of technology upon it. It also seeks to examine issues concerning art and technology; factors which impact on a successful combination of seemingly disparate disciplines.
This project will examine the issues of exhibition spaces and tracking technologies in three dimensional spaces. Different approaches to human recognition will utilised within these terms.
