DAWN 04: INTERACTIVE MEDIA PROJECTS

Dermot McInerney

Biography:
Dermot McInerney Having always been interested in design, I studied Industrial Design at the NCAD in Dublin as an undergraduate. Following an interesting year working in an office furniture manufacturing plant, I decided to expand my skills in the creative field by undertaking an MA in Interactive Media.

Project Description:
Sports Injury Rehabilitation Aid

Injuries to athletes are commonplace. Apart from disrupting the sports season, return to competitive play can be a long and difficult process. The aim of this project is to design an interactive portable device that will help adherence to sports injury rehabilitation programs. The device will be programmable by the physiotherapist, in relation to the patient's individual rehabilitation requirements, and then be used by the patient in an environment of his/her choosing independent of specialist help. The focus is on simplicity and ease of use, while guiding exercise routines and providing goal setting features.
