Project Description:
The basis of this project is to review the act of information provision on the web. To create effective information and user experiences we as designers need to understand certain fundamental principles. The principles govern the acts of information architecture, information design and graphic design. To create new and exciting interactions for users we must understand and respect these principles, but also we must understand the reason for there existence. This thesis will look at the many fields of design and look at understanding the reason for these design principles, there origin and why and how they can aid in better information design. The case study looks at a current website, reviewing its structure and layout. The purpose of the case study is to see the product of designing without the use or application of these principles. The intention of the case study is to look into the effect and outcome of re-designing the site by applying these design rules and principles.
