DAWN 04: INTERACTIVE MEDIA PROJECTS

Cormac Mulhall

Biography:
Image of Cormac MulhallAfter managing to survive my years at Newpark Comprehensive School, Blackrock, I entering the University of Limerick to study Computer Systems in 1998. Graduated 2002 with an honors B.Sc., but wound back down in Limerick in 2003 to undertake a Masters in Interactive Media. Interested in making computers do very strange things to entertain and amuse others. I hope to someday write a computer game that will make someone cry (in a good way).

Project Description:
Interactive Drama & Character System:
Project is a design of, and attempt to implement, an computer system for interactive drama/games. Through interaction with the system the user/player will change how the story of the game develops. The system will use computer controlled agents to represent the non-playable characters (NPC) in the system. Depending on how the user interacts with these NPC and depending on how they interact with each other, the system will change the narrative and events that the user experiences. This will be done in a life like, though wholly dynamic fashion, so the outcome of the user's actions is realistic but not pre-determined.
